Drivers Gardner and Stout Put Scions on Podium and Secure Five Awards Along the Way

TORRANCE, Calif. — This past weekend, at the World Challenge season opener in front of an estimated 150,000 fans, the DG-Spec Scion road racing team proved again that Scion is the real deal, even at the top of the pro ladder.  Three podiums, and five awards of distinction were racked up by drivers Robert Stout and Dan Gardner, driving the number 18 and 36 DG-Spec Scion tC Touring Cars, respectively.
The event was a double-header, with a race on Saturday and another on Sunday, both for season championship points.  Stout qualified well, putting the number 18 car third on grid, with Gardner a couple rows back.  The Qualifying session would determine starting order for both races.

Saturday’s race saw Stout battle with the pole sitter, big-motor Honda Civic, eventually getting the best of the Civic and finishing second place, along the way collecting the MTM Special Ops Best Move of the Race award for avoiding the spinning Civic.  Gardner blasted through the field, gaining 9 positions overall, which netted him the third spot on the podium along with the Sunoco Hard Charger award.

Sunday began with a bang, as Gardner laid the rubber down on the start, zipping through the field, earning the Optima Batteries Best Standing Start of the Race award.  He also repeated, again collecting the Sunoco Hard Charger award, en route to a fourth place finish.  Stout’s 18 car partially collected a spinning GT Porsche three turns after the start.  Even with the damage to the body and suspension, Stout pushed his way back up, battling the Honda Civic, and eventually getting the best of him.  The pass on lap 24 earned him the Invisible Glass Clean Pass of the Race award, en route to another second place finish.

“Aweome, awesome, awesome,” said team owner and driver, Gardner.  “First place would have been nice, but it’s hard to have expected more at the season opener.  This is great for the team, the drivers, our sponsors, and especially Scion, who just showed the world that even at this level, we’re still the real deal.”

Stout, at just 18 years old, is the youngest driver in the series.  That made no matter, as he piloted the number 18 DG-Spec Scion to the second step on the podium both days, proving that he knows how to get the job done.  Both drivers are rookies in the series, but showed their mettle all weekend long.

“What a great run,” Stout Said.  “My hat’s off to Dan and the entire team.  I had a great car the whole weekend.  It’s hard to be more pleased with my first pro race starts.  A podium both races…it doesn’t get much better than that!”

Credit the crew of Sean Morris, Brad Allen, John McNulty, David Fredrickson, and Jayson Altmiller with keeping the cars 100-percent bulletproof, as the cars didn’t blink all weekend.  Tom and Robyn Lepper supported everyone all along the way.

Stout ends the event second in the championship points race, with Gardner in fourth.  The two also netted Scion 14 manufacturer points, instantly launching the brand to second in the manufacturers’ championship standings.  Scion trails VW by just 4 points.

The team now readies for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, the only race of the season in the team’s backyard.  The event will take place through the historic streets on April 16-18.  The World Challenge race starts that Sunday at 4:15 p.m.

California Bill to Increase SB100 Exemptions from 500 to 750 Cars Per Year Considered

CALIFORNIA BILL TO INCREASE "SPECIALLY CONSTRUCTED" CLASS FROM 500 TO 750 VEHICLES PER YEAR TO BE CONSIDERED BY COMMITTEE

Legislation (A.B. 1740) in the California Assembly to eliminate
the requirement that specially constructed vehicle registrations
be limited to only the first 500 vehicles per year was not
approved by the Transportation Committee on March 22.  However, a
modified version of the bill will be reconsidered by the
committee on April 5, 2010.  Under the amendment, the
registration limit would be increased from 500 to 750 per year.

We Urge You to Contact Members of the Assembly Transportation
Committee (List Attached) Immediately to Request Their Support
for the Amended A.B. 1740

·Under current California policy, specially
constructed vehicles that do not receive one of the 500 sequence
numbers are subject to a "muddied" titling, registration and smog
check process.

of these 500 sequence numbers which are often sold on e-bay and
other on-line auction sites.

Time Lapse Video : World Challenge Race 2 From the Pits

I mounted the video camera to the golf cart, and did a time lapse from the staging area to the pits, and back to impound for the 2nd TC race of the St. Petersburg weekend. Robert Stout in the #18 Scion tC finished both races in 2nd place. Dan(Don) Gardner #36 Scion tC finished 3rd on Saturday, and 4th on Sunday.

Brass Monkey GT-R Runs Over Porsche During World Challenge Race



One way to take a Porsche 911 out on the track, run over it.  Just after the start of the 2nd World Challenge race at St. Petersburg, going though the first set of corners, the #96 Nissan GT-R of Steve Ott, and the #57 Truspeed Porsche of Patrick Lindsay got together with the GT-R launching/driving over the front of the Porsche .  The nose of the GT-R was pointed up enough to get 3 wheels off the ground.   Both cars made it back to the pits with some damage.

World Challenge St. Petersburg Race 2 Results
I will have to look for some pictures and video, as it was pretty spectacular.  The accident affected our #18 car, as it could not avoid the #57 Porsche , now occupying most of the middle of the track, and the left rear of the car came into contact with the stopped Porsche.  From the pits, we could only see the right side of the car. We asked the spotters to look, and then I ran down to take a peak at a close corner.  The left rear tire had about 5 degrees of negative camber. 5 degrees is a little excessive for us. The hella flush guys, and the demon camber drift guys might disagree. We made the decision to keep him on the track. It turned out to be the right decision, as Robert was able to move up to 2nd place, and finish 2nd in both of the weekends races.

19 days in Long Beach, our backyard. I will be getting some more info, and some video of the Brass Monkey cars at that event.

Carscoop.com presented data showing, in five major European markets, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and England, the average CO2 emissions from new cars of all categories (including SUVs) in circulation, indicate the number 3.26 tons / year since early 2008. This means experienced a reduction of 0.11 tons / year since 2007.

This shows, the use of small cars and green cars in Europe have a very positive impact in reducing CO2 levels.

In Japan, the average CO2 emissions for new cars down from 3.16 tons / year in 2007 to 3.10 tons / year during 2008. But in the U.S., the new car average of 5.77 tons CO2/tahun issue.

This fact was surprising considering the U.S. is known for the most vocal in promoting the use of environmentally friendly emissions.

First 9 Second R35 GT-R : AMS

AMS has smashed the 9 second barrier at TX2K10. The best pass was a 9.89@145mph with a best mph of 146.98 mph. Congratulations goes out to the crew at AMS for reaching this barrier in the R35 GT-R world.

Kinds XJ Jaguar Cars And Reviews


And somewhere in the crowd lurked a new car. Yes, reader, this glamorous event was nothing more than the motor industry disclosure. Except for the automotive journalists seem to have been abducted and replaced by the Hollywood tinsel.

So now marque think youth, celebrity and fashion is the way forward? Lamborghini, perhaps? Fiat Cheeky? Urban MINI?

Nope. The answer is Jaguar, the Coventry cat, the last refuge of a tie, mustache-sporting, cigar-puffing corporate and executive golf series, which is exclusively for more than 50 and have never heard of Elle Macwhatserface. Jaguar.

Except that Jaguar does not exist anymore, for the car in the middle of last summer party, the new XJ, marking the end of a sharp turnaround by the brand in recent years.

Step begins with the designer Ian Callum's arrival from Aston Martin, followed by a stream, punchy XK sports car, which makes you wonder why the boys peeled out extra bankers to Aston's V8 Vantage.

Please. This car is too elegant for entrepreneurs; let them find their stock in the back of a 7-series or A8. The XJ deserve an appreciative audience, a passenger who will stroke the shiny wood and cold metal fillet, and slide gracefully along the cream wrapped in leather chairs.

Base trim level, called the Luxury, gives you footwell lighting, door puddle lamps, American walnut veneer, dressed in soft leather seats and chrome circular air vents.

Stepping into the portfolio pruning and walnuts into ebony, with beautiful wood and chrome trays that fold out from the back of the front seats for laptops and executive papers - there is even a pen slot on your Montblanc tray.

Above specifications, Supersport, offering oak or, if you lose your marbles, jaw-droppingly awful choice of all black leather interior (including the roof lining and door linings doubt dotted) and the glove box and storage center lined box-purple stimulate migraine feels.

Ford F250 Dash Lighting LED Replacement and Installation Guide

The step by step dash lighting LED replacement and installation procedure for Ford Super Duty F250, this manual clearly explain how to remove the bulb, installing and configuring complete with illustration. This write-up covers the replacement of the following bulbs: 4×4 Knob Switch, Headlight Switch, Instrument Cluster, Heater/AC Controls. The first picture shows where the bulb assembly was. Unplug the harness and remove the 4×4 knob assembly. The second picture is the bulb housing with the new LED installed. The LED used for this bulb was from superbrightleds.com and is part number NEO5-G. I soldered the LED legs to the housing contacts. Reinstall the bulb assembly into the 4×4 knob assembly and turn on the headlights, to verify you have the LED in correctly, it
will only work one direction. Then, unplug the harness and set this assembly to the side, since it needs to be removed for the
upcoming dash removal. This installation was the most difficult one. Mainly figuring out how to disassemble the switch assembly without trashing it. The first step is to snap off the melted plastic pieces that hold the switch assembly together. Here’s a pic of these pieces, there will be several of them around the perimeter of the assembly. Here you can see the internals of the switch assembly, with the green capped bulb mounted to the circuit board. Ever imagine what kind of vehicles suitable for young children more adventurous in the next 2040 years? Mercedes-Benz tried to give its image, through the car cyborg?

Future cars this German manufacturer called Cyborg Sensation Vehicle (CSV), the work of the designer of China, Derek Chik Kin Ng.

Indeed this car is still far from production, Mercedes-Benz plans to pound the CSV-dealer dealership on 2040 next year, with the young adventurer segmentation targeting professionals, which of course filled with such dynamic designs.

Inspired by the concept of Mercedes-Benz F400, CSV is a very radical. Look at all four wheels, which even makes us wonder where is located the rubber round it.

Designers also wanted to give a sense of organic vehicles, so that the muscle fibers that flanked each side of the car, pinned neatly slipped into a hidden frame system.

The result is a design that takes the true adventurer DNA from a Mercedes-Benz evolution into an organic thing that could sped on the highway.

8 Second Street Trim GT-R From Australia

Down in Australia, this R32 has been turning some 9 second, and now 8 second passes at the dragstrip. It does it a little differently, with a Nissan RE403A automatic transmission.  The fast way down the track for drag racing, in this time range is an auto transmission.  They have losses, but they load the car, and keep it in boost between shifts. The costs compared to the air shifted or sequential transmissions is much lower.

The car weighs in at 1601kg with driver or (3529 lbs). The car runs a set of 3037 turbos, and a Motec M800 ECU. The claimed power output is 650 KW(871 horsepower) at the wheels. Looking at the engine, and checking out the relationship of the idler pulley to tensioner pulley, it looks like the engine is an RB30.   They are supposedly going to put up some better videos soon.
