I'm just about to compete in my first ever full Tarmac Rally down in Tasmania, Australia this weekend (Targa Wrest Point) in my R34 GT-R. I've run it quite sucessfully over the last 5 years in our National Touring Rally competiton known as the Dutton Rallies but have decided in 09 to step up to the full Tarmac gigs.

After watching the Grand National abuse in pre-film teasers we're happy to report they did not, in fact, destroy any real GNXs. These cars are merely clones. As you can see in the photos above, there are multiples of most of the character cars. This includes the Brian's R34 Skyline GT-R, which has a 240SX-based clone seen next to the GT in the gallery. Why accidentally destroy a real R34 when you can destroy a fake one?

That kind of money buys you a car with a 7-liter twin turbocharged Chevrolet V8 engineThe car is quick. It should be quick. Its a twin turbo charged V-8, in a light chassis, with a ton of rear tire. However, it is in no way shape or form a production car. Offering a car, based on another car, is not a production car. Guys like this are a joke to me. If you put together a fast car, you put together a fast car. Don't call it a production car. Call it what it is, a kit car.

Nissan is going to cut 12,000 jobs in Japan , and about 8,000 other jobs worldwide.
Nissan Motor needed to shed some excess weight. About 8.5% of its entire work force, 20,000 jobs, will be cut worldwide after the automaker on Monday forecast a net loss of 265.0 billion yen ($2.9 billion) for the current fiscal year.
The cutting of the jobs will save Nissan about $2.0 billion dollars in 2009.
Nissan sold 731,000 vehicles worldwide in the quarter ending December, down 18.6% from the comparable period a year earlier.
Shares of Nissan Motor dropped by 16 yen (18 cents), or 5.8%, to a 52-week low at 261.00 yen ($2.85), following the loss warning.

In fact, owner Jacko Luong of Huntington Beach believes there are less than 20 of these in the U.S. He acquired this yellow beauty a couple of years ago through Costa Mesa-based Kaizo, which imported this right-hand driver from Japan.There aren't that many R34's in the US. Around 20-30. Motorex did about 12. Then Kaizo, plus other imports. Somewhere around there.
One thing Luong especially loves about this car is the big power its relatively small engine puts out. “I love being the underdog,” he says.
